This track uses a scale derived from the overtone series. "D" or 8:7 is the "tonic" with 13:7 being the 7:4 (7th harmonic proper) to the "D" or 8:7. So it goes: 8:7, 9:7, 10:7, 11:7, 12:7, 13:7 - the other "chromatic" tones are filled in by 3:2 (proper fifths) going down or up from these pitches.
(Truth be told, there's a smaller "comma" interval directly adjacent to the 8:7 and the 12:7 - it's the difference here that makes the difference.)
Also, this track does best with a good subwoofer so one can "here" the "growl" and feel the sound. Headphones may be suitable but if the sound can disperse and move in a larger area then this is all for the better. It is best if you feel the sound in the room with you.
